Why am I doing this ...?

I feel I've been left behind somewhat with blogging and tweeting. I have a Twitter account and I follow various professional bodies, but only on an ad hoc basis (i.e when I have time during my lunch break). That doesn't mean I don't value the information, but I do think I need a better level of engagement.
I want to be able to make better use  of the information out there and to also contribute to this wider forum. I don't generally blog, tweet or write on facebook because I keep my personal information limited to personal friends. However I do see these tools as important for professional use.
